Featured Fanfic: “Cooking Lessons” by MidsummerNiteDreamer | The Fic Reviewer
A new fanfic review. The author is one of us one this tag. I see you, DimensionExplosion. Love this fic.
Hello Lexi,
I have read and read your review of “Cooking Lessons” from your blog many times now. I am beyond honored and happy to be featured on your blog and I sincerely thank you from the bottom of my heart for your thought, care, and grace in your review.
Tonight I also came across another little gem of a post originally from mayahansens with commentary from an unknown source added.
mayahansens:
one of my favorite things about fandom is that the exchange of intellectual and creative property is a legitimate form of gift giving. like ‘i’m so enchanted by you, i love you, let me tell you a story’
#as much as i’m turned off by certain aspects of fandom it’s things like this that balance them out #there’s just something so sweet and selfless in wanting to share your own little safe haven with another individual #i have all of these lovely feelings about a thing and i want you to have them too #because you mean a lot to me and this means a lot to me and i want to share this happiness okay #i want you to have this too #it’s all just really fucking wonderful when you think about it man #creativity in the least selfish way possible and it’s brilliant and yeah
The Trauma Center fandom is small. It’s one of our inherent charms but for the creators of fanart, fanfic, and even the makers of the canon game it is also a bit of a curse. Sometimes it does seem like there is no one to absorb and appreciate what is being created. True, I write fanfiction to satisfy my own passion for fiction and storytelling, but I, like any other author big or small, like when other people acknowledge my works and say that they like them (or hate them, but I digress!).
Because for me fanfiction is a full fledged two way gift. I get to craft stories in the universes of my favorite works of fiction while sharing what I write with like minded people with the same drive for more than we’ve been given.
So once again, thank you for reviewing my fic, thank you for the honor of being featured on your blog, and thank you for being apart of my little haven of fandom.
Yours in solidarity,
MidsummerNiteDreamer/DimensionExplosion/Becca
P.S. I have updated Asclepias Blossoms with a newly edited one-shot to honor this occasion.
StarRoivas got his hand on old school illustrations, and mixed them with Atari cartridges!
This is amazing.

Story under the cut because of the content. I tried my best so…I hope you like it!
Hooray! Unfortunately I am busy, so I must save this for later…
please tell me the games that changed your view on gaming
like they don’t have to be your favourites, they can even be the ones you hate, but what i’m asking is like
what games made you go from “videogames ok” to “wow videogames WOW” in your lifetime, like from now to when you were like five i don’t know
i’m very interested to hear your answers
- Pokemon: the idea that there can be an entire world in a game, and that you can trade with your friends, and the whole camaraderie thing
- Prince of Persia the Sands of Time: Games can carry a strong narrative
- Dragon Age: Games can make you question your morality and your own decisions, there is not always a “right” answer and you are what you bring to the game.
- Super Smash Bros. Brawl: Made me realise how not fun it is to be competitive and taught me to enjoy video games for fun. Which is why I don’t play it anymore.
- FE10: Showed me among the greatest character development I’ve ever seen in video games and taught me many morals and stories within. It also showed me strategic thinking in a video game like none other.
- Mario: Gave me a hero to believe in when I was a child who I would masquerade as in a mask around the playground.
I’d say those are the only three I can think of that have truly impacted on me in a life-like sense. The others I just thoroughly enjoyed playing.
Pokemon series & Fire Emblem series: Just because a character is fictional that doesn’t mean they can’t capture your entire soul and spirit.
ATLUS man i’m tellin u
make trauma center merch like plushies or figures
you’d make alot of money
i mean PLEASE
You don’t get it, Atlus. I don’t ever buy merch but I will literally buy one of every item you put out for Trauma Center.
That being said… posters.
I have decided to publish my rather large collection of Trauma Center drabbles and whatnot under the title Asclepias Blossoms on FF.net.
Please give it a read and maybe review if you like it?
I have three up right now and I’m in the process of editing more.
#these are really good, #also i call all your little references, #subtle my arse. (via little-guys-tie)
OH HEY, FRIEND. I just had a depressing day of awaiting reviews for this fic collection, so I am glad you liked it. And I am glad the references hit you like a train because I like ‘em heavy, frequent, and in your face. References, I mean.

I have a lot of TC/TT one-shots that I want to put together in one collection of stories.
But I need a title!
So far, all I have is Asclepias Blossoms.
